CIS 125FL Introduction to Flash

Description

CIS 125FL - Introduction to Flash explores the skills necessary for a web developer using Adobe Flash. Adobe Certified Associate (ACA).Outcomes include an overall understanding of Flash as well as setting project requirements, identifying rich media elements, building rich media elements, and evaluating rich media elements.

Recommended prerequisite: CIS 120 or instructor approval
Credits: 4 (Lecture: 3; Lab: 2)

Prerequisite Skills

Prior to starting class, CIS 125FL students need to possess digital literacy skills as demonstrated by successful completion of CIS 120 or IC3 Certification AND basic Web/Internet technology skills. These skills include, but are not limited to...

  • start-up, reboot, and shut down a computer.
  • operate a computer keyboard and know about the basic use of the Alt, Control, and Shift keys.
  • operate a mouse and be able to determine when clicking, double-clicking,a nd right-clicking are appropriate courses of action.
  • save files to disk (portable storage) and retrieve/open files that have been previously saved.
  • create folders and sub-folders within the My Documents folder and portable storage devices.
  • download and install new software from the Web.
  • research information online
  • explain the role of web servers on the Internet.
  • upload files to the Web.

Although the course text does not have end-of-chapter exercises, it is requied and will be used for graded activities including quiz and exam preparation. This course will also make extensive use of resources online:

For the greatest convienence, students should use a portable USB drive for file management. Portable USB drives are readily available for under $20 at office supply and electronics/computer stores. With your USB drive, you can install portable applications like Firefox (web browser), Audacity (sound editor), and even a portable image editor.
